Where real stories go further
Outland Story Co. is a documentary-first production company crafting character-led, access-driven non-fiction with cinematic craft and a clear point of view. We work across documentary, doc series, and branded storytelling, partnering with teams who care about authenticity, impact, and audience.
We offer end-to-end production, from early story development and creative strategy through production, post, and delivery. Whether you are building a pitch, capturing a verité-driven field shoot, or shaping a film for broadcast and festivals, we bring a calm, experienced process and a collaborator’s mindset to every stage.
Our approach is simple: earn trust, find the human stakes, and tell the story with intention. We value strong relationships, thoughtful logistics, and creative choices that serve the subject, the message, and the viewer. At Outland, the standard is work that feels honest and lived-in, and films that leave a mark long after the credits.
Our latest work
We partnered with Simon Fraser University’s Aquatic Research Cooperative (ARC) to show how collaboration, science, and community unite to protect BC’s watersheds.
With a small three-person crew, we filmed across British Columbia — from SFU’s labs to the wild wetlands of the Deadman River. Through smoke, rain, and chest-deep water, we followed ARC’s team as they restored vital aquatic habitats.
The result: a five-minute cinematic story that captures the grit of fieldwork, the power of collaboration, and the hope driving the next generation of researchers.
